When one thinks of drinking Champagne it is usually in the midst of some type of celebration, such as a wedding, anniversary, or bringing in the New Year. I was recently celebrating the one year anniversary of the morning TV show that I appear on every Tuesday morning to discuss wine. The Drappier Blanc de Blancs Champagne was very nice, and it was a pleasure to share it with the co-hosts of the morning show.
The Drappier family winery was founded in 1808 when Francois planted the first vines. Over the centuries the traditions have continued with the family producing excellent Champagnes. The primary grape variety used in the making of Drappier Blanc de Blancs is Chardonnay, with a touch of Pinot Blanc thrown in as well. The result is a wine that is complex, with a nice roundness to it.
The color of the Drappier Blanc de Blancs is a soft straw, with a luminous aspect to it. On the nose are soft aromas of citrus, floral, pear, apple, and nuts. The flavors of this wine are of apples, pears, a hint of vanilla, nuts, and a finish of soft lemons. While this is not a high-end Champagne, it is non-the-less a good Champagne with good balance, and a nice effervescence. Priced at about $35 per bottle.

Drappier Carte d’Or Brut NV Champagne, France – Wine Review

When one thinks of drinking Champagne it is usually in the midst of some type of celebration, such as a wedding, anniversary, or bringing in the New Year. I was recently given a bottle of Drappier Carte d’Or Brut Champagne, not to celebrate anything special, but to simply enjoy a good Champagne with my wife. This NV Champagne was indeed spectacular, and it was a treat to enjoy such a nice wine.
The Drappier family winery was founded in 1808 when Francois planted the first vines. Over the centuries the traditions have continued with the family producing excellent Champagnes. The primary grape variety used in the making of Drappier Carte d’Or Champagne is Pinot Noir, with the remaining balance coming from the Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay varieties. The result is a wine that has notes of red fruit from the Pinot Noir grapes.
The color of this wine in the glass is a rich gold, with aromas of red  berries, apples, peaches, nectarines, and a hint of citrus. The flavor associations are of raspberries, white peaches, apples, and nectarines. This Champagne is all about class, and it comes out in a spectacular fashion with a wine that is well balanced, and ends with a long and lingering finish. We enjoyed this wine as an aperitif before dinner…and it was wonderful!
