Cupra Ramato Attems 2011 Pinot Grigio – Wine Review

Bookmark and Share

I was recently introduced to a very unique bottle of Pinot Grigio from Venezia Giulia in the northeast of Italy. The Cupra Ramato has a copper color to it, which makes this wine truly standout. The copper color comes about by allowing the must (juice) to stay in contact with the skins for 36 hours. The end result is an excellent Pinot Grigio with wonderful aromas and flavors.
In the glass this copper colored wine exhibits aromas of stone fruit, strawberries, cherries, and a hint of floral. The flavor profile is of apricots, strawberries, cherries, and a nice minerality.  This is a well balanced, easy to drink Pinot Grigio, and is medium-bodied, with good acidity. This wine would be great as an aperitif, or paired with a light green salad on a hot summers day.
