Purple Cowboy 2009 Tenacious Red – Wine Review
The Purple Cowboy wine company was founded by former wine executive Terry Wheatley, who is also a breast cancer survivor. Terry began the Purple Cowboy company with some long-time business partners and friends as a way to help support breast cancer awareness and research. Proceeds from the sale of Purple Cowboy wines go toward the Tough Enough To Wear Pink campaign to help with breast cancer fundraising and awareness.
The Tenacious Red is produced using Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot from the Central Coast of California. In the glass this wine had a deep ruby red color, with a slight red brick red on the rim variation. The aromas and flavors associated with Purple Cowboy Tenacious Red were of blackberries, dark cherries, a hint of dark chocolate, and tobacco leaf. This is a medium-to-full bodied wine, with medium tannins, and a medium finish. This wine is an average red blend, with a price tag of between $10-$12, and it supports a very worthy cause. The Tenacious Red would pair well with a grilled rib eye steak.
