Seven Hills 2009 Riesling – Wine Review

Bookmark and Share

Seven Hills Winery was established in 1988, and is one of the oldest and most respected wineries in the Walla Walla Valley of Washington. The Seven Hills Vineyard thrives because of a very temperate micro-climate, as well as benefiting from silt-based soils in the region. The wines from Seven Hills Winery are an expression of the terrior in which the grapes are grown.
The grapes for the 2009 Seven Hills Riesling are from the Columbia Valley of Washington, and this wine brings out all of the characteristics of the Riesling grape variety that one expects. The aromas of this Riesling reveal apples, pears, as well as a slight hint of tropical fruits, and some minerality. The flavors follow what the nose picks up, and the wine is off-dry with a touch of sweetness. It is a nicely balanced wine, with good acidity, and clean finish. I enjoyed this wine, and I believe would be well received by most that would sample it.
